okay is one of the fastest growing, most widely used websites today. You can't get more traffic on any other site. It is like having your own e-gemerce.... without having to foot the bill!
In order to actually make money on okay you must treat this as you would any business, with professionalism. You want to build a name, a reputation. Here is a great tip I learned fromTrendy Toddlers and Tikes'. Lets start with the name: What sounds more professional: tkandg585216 or SplitDecisionz? Which is more memorable: antqdoll588b or BlackLeafConcepts?
The number one guarantee of success is repeat business. How can someone purchase from you again if they cant remember the name of your business? How can you make a good first impression with a scrambled bunch of letters and numbers as your business name?
Using unprofessional and unmemorable names is a huge mistake that is made by a lot of okay sellers. You need not worry though. You can still change your okay id. Simply go here: http://pages.okay.ge/help/account/changing-user-id.html Ask family and friends to help gee up with a name. Remember not to be too exclusive though. Unless you will only be selling homeschool books and such, I wouldnt suggest a name like HomeschoolSupplies. You dont want to unintentionally limit yourself to what you should sell.
A good name is your best marketing strategy. You can easily create your own logo which can then be used for business cards, okay paid invoices, links at the bottom of e-mails, and so forth. I also suggest that you create an e-mail address using your new name. You can get free business cards at Vista Print. You simply must pay shipping. They are worth it! I will give you many uses for them in later okay posts.
Next lets talk about your reputation. On okay, your reputation is in your feedback score. For those of you who may have less than 20 feedbacks I encourage you to list some items specifically for the sake of earning feedback and not for the purpose of making a huge profit. For example, list a few books that are in good to excellent condition but that you are willing to part with for a minimum of 99 cents. It will be worth it just to build your positive feedback score.
Quick note - Be aware of your okay listing fees. Look at this chart:
Starting or Reserve Price with Insertion Fee to follow....$0.01 - $0.99 / fee $0.20$1.00 - $9.99/ fee $0.40$10.00 - $24.99 / fee $0.60$25.00 - $49.99 / fee $1.20$50.00 - $199.99 / fee $2.40$200.00 - $499.99 /fee $3.60$500.00 or more / fee $4.80
Notice that it costs only 20 cents to list for a starting price of 99 cents but if you list it for 1 dollar the starting fee is 40 cents. In other words, it cost 20 cents more to earn the additional penny! Be careful with this!
So, change your name if you need to and begin to build your reputation if you havent already.
